Cape May to Atlantic City June 20, 2018

Waited 2 days for the weather to improve since we will be in the Atlantic for 44 miles with no barrier protection.  We departed dock at 8 am.  Still traveling with First Forty.   It’s a warm 78 degrees, blue skies, winds 5-10 knots.  By 8:25, we are out of Cape May Inlet and cruising on the Atlantic Ocean.  upon exiting inlet, we encountered three large fishing boats to our port,  Pete maneuvered around them with great expertise.  It was rolly at the mouth of the inlet, but seas  settled out to less than 2 feet.  The trip went well, and we were excited to see Atlantic City from the water!

Golden Nugget at night!

We ended up staying here for five nights, waiting for better weather! We were able to walk to a nearby beach so Jude could swim daily. The Coast Guard Station was adjacent to the marina & was on our walking route.

Our marina was across the street from the Golden Nugget Resort & Casino which was once a Trump property.  The Chart House at the resort was a disappointment but Pete’s birthday celebration at Morton’s was great! We took the free bus to other casinos on the boardwalk but preferred Golden Nugget to Caesars.  We played craps & roulette most days! We broke even, I think!  One day, we rented a cabana at the Golden Nugget pool, which was thoroughly entertaining! We kept a close eye on the weather, and didn’t take any chances. Our trip is coming to an end and we don’t want to jinx ourselves! Follow the same procedures! Wind has to be under 15 & seas less than 2 feet.  We are anxious to leave AC, & continue our progress towards the gold flag!
