Waiting in Waterford!

IMG_4862 2.jpgWe have been in Waterford waiting for the Erie Canal Locks to reopen for a few days.  We were “on the wall“, without power of water for 2 nights. Today we moved up to the dock, under a bridge, & now have power & all the luxuries that go with it!DSC_0208

Waterford has been very enjoyable for us. Mainly because yesterday we were visited by some long time friends. My dear friend, Carri, visited for a few hours & attended the pot luck dinner on the dock with us! It was so great to catch up with her! She has moved to North Carolina but happened to be in the area, helping her mom with a medical procedure today. Thankfully, her mom did great today.

We also had a visit from my former boss, Nurse Manager Jen Miller, her son Max, & Jen’s brother, Todd.  They were familiar with the Waterford docks since the have attended The Tugboat Festival, held here. Needless to say, they loved our tug & we were happy to show it off.  Max is 12, very enthusiastic, inquisitive, & active!  We all felt better after he put a life jacket on because he was crawling everywhere! We enjoyed telling them about our upcoming trip & we hope they’ll visit again & keep in touch.

Today we rode our bikes to the hardware store, went out for breakfast at the local cafe, & did various projects on the boat. Tomorrow we head into the locks ! Erie Canal here we come!  There was a sing along ran my music teacher Gayle on The Good Life. She handed out the music & all the loopers sang! Fun!We sang “15 years on the Erie Canal”. 5 verses

I’ve got a mule,
Her name is Sal,
Fifteen years on the Erie Canal.

  1. Pat and Pete, love following your blog, so interesting. Can’t wait to hear the next adventure. We have a boat in Vero Beach Fl and many loopers end up stopping at the marina. Perhaps we will see you at the end of your trip. Safe journeys.
